Sevilla wins Galera

The 28th edition of the Memorial Manuel Galera was won by Spaniard Oscar Sevilla (Kelme) in a solo break. Sevilla crossed the line in Armilla almost two minutes ahead of David Clinger (USA) and Jose Gutiérrez (Kelme), with ONCE's Carlos Sastre a little further back. Eleuterio Hinojosa finished in fifth place, 2'19 behind Sevilla who made his move with over 100 kilometres to go.

Sevilla also won the mountain prize, that was contested (twice) over the Puerto de Malahá. The metas volantes prize was won by Eladio Jiménez (Banesto), while the sprints were taken out by Isidoro Nozal (ONCE). Kelme won the teams competition.

Over 100 riders participated in the race, inlcuding Beloki, Casero, Flores, Zubeldial, Cabello, and Jiménez.
