Run on the challenging 2km car park road circuit, including a stiff little rise, the racing was fast and furious. Robert Tighello took the winner's prize ahead of James Taylor. Hard working Dean Johnstone managed third after leading repeated surges during the latter half of the race, and Tom Jepparson was fourth. Adrian Sansonetti slipped under the guard of the handicapper and won his last B grade race. The exciting sprint finish saw the bulk of the bunch reel in the late break in the lap couple of laps then mass for the final 150-metre dash. Most of them made it through the last bend although six took to the grass. Sansonetti led home noted B grade sprinter Darren Cathie, newcomer Simon Morcom (ex NSW) and Trent Lowe. A successful breakaway in C grade saw veterans Mick O'Connor and John Pritchard team up with Stefan Kirsch to win by 20 seconds from Andrew McKenzie with the bunch a further 15 seconds back. Near disaster in D grade as two riders turned left in the sprint seemingly confused as to the location of the finish.
