Plenty of jacket action after the racing as the temperature dropped with the sun. A grade endured the usual savage attacks before settling in to await the sprint. The high tempo accounted for a few pretenders, glass a few more. In the finale Cameron Lester stepped up and showed a flash of form to defeat McEvoy, Tighello and Crowe who have been dominant in recent weeks. "The Brickie" Grant Mathews went away from B grade in the opening laps and built a 30 second lead by himself. Sadly it wasn't as durable as his day work and he was reeled in in the last ten minutes. The bunch stayed together for the most part with a few little digs livening up the pace. The dash saw Peter Barnett lead home Chris Tims from World Hour Record holder Anna Milward and Mauro Alvarez. Another field sprint in C grade, after the obligatory efforts to chase down even a shadow moving up the road. Matt Young the winner tonight in front of "Fast" Eddie Perez, Nick Gibson and last weeks victor Simon Clarke. Matt Cockerall won the D grade race in a five abreast sprint with the survivors strung out behind. Minor placings to Steven McConchie, Gerard Hurley and Craig Rotherbuecher. The kids of E grade are getting a start at the Park too this summer. Two in a row to Tess Downing from Mick Downing, Peter Johnstone and Louise Bourke. Even the wind wasn't the major factor it usually is, however a revised handicap for C grade proved to be too big a hurdle for the chasing bunches. In the early stages of the race a large B grade bunch of 25 riders made very little ground on C grade who obviously enjoyed their extra margin. A grade finally joined forces with B grade with 6 laps to go, but C grade were well on their way to snatching the 1st 5 places across the line.
