Groenendaal too good in round one

Dutch World Champion Richard Groenendaal (Rabobank) won the first of six rounds of the ATP Online UCI Cyclocross World Cup, the GP d'Italie in Bergamo. Groenendaal beat Spaar Select's Bart Wellens by nearly a minute, with Palmans/Domo new signing, Mario de Clercq taking third.

Groenendaal set his victory up on the first lap of twelve, holding off the rest to take his second win of the season after his Superprestige victory in Ruddervoorde a few weeks ago.

The women's race was won by Debby Mansveld from Inge Velthuis.
