Stage 2 - November 11: Río Seco - Santuario de Copacabana, 131 km

Bolivian cyclist Genaro Agostopa (Grafto Pollito) won the second stage of the Doble Copacaban, between Rio Seco (near La Paz) and the Santuario de Copacabana on the edge of lake Titicaca. Agostopa gained a 27 second lead at the end of the first leg of the stage until the town of Tiquina, and managed to hold on to win by 14 seconds from Colombian Jairo Perez, winner of this race last year.

The win was a first for a Bolivian in this race, as Colombia have dominated every stage in the past six editions. A happy Agostopa said that he would retire from cycling at the end of this race after 15 years in the sport.

In the general classification, Colombian Ismael Sarmiento remained as the race leader, followed by his two compatriots Graciano Fonseca and Jairo Perez. The Doble Copacabana will conclude tomorrow with two stages taking the cyclists back to La Paz.
