Campi Bisenzio Criterium

Campi Bisenzio, Italy, June 9, 2000

This race saw Mario Cipollini win his 153rd career victory, in a 30 kilometre rain reduced criterium in Campi Bisenzio. He beat Ivan Quaranta and Dario Pieri in a sprint, after an attack containing Francesco Casagrande, Massimo Podenzana (Mercatone Uno), and Fabrizio Guidi (FdJ) was caught on the last lap. Unfortunately for Mario, he was badly injured in a training crash the next day.
