Main Page Report & results Previous Stage Next stage Stage 2 - July 2: Futuroscope Loudun , 194 kmPreviewBy Tim Maloney, cyclingnews.com correspondentt Cyclingnews caught up with US Postal team manager, Mark Gorski at breakfast today. Gorski was positive about his team's performance yesterday, despite the fact that Lance didn't take the jersey. When the dust settled and them team reviewed the GC. Lance Armstrong was ahead of his main rivals, and in fact the US Postal Service was first on team GC. During his time trial, Armstrong was up by 1 second at the final time check. However, he couldn't hear what was going on in his earpiece due to the helicopter noise. He might have punched it at the end, if he'd known how close he was to Millar, however he was very happy for the young Scot's win. The weather today is warm, overcast, but not too humid. The wind is from the NNW which may mean a headwind in the final stretch. Look for a lot of breaks after the second sprint, as the wind turns around and the road is quite windy. Start time: 12:52
The first open road stage from Futuroscope to Loudun is 194 kilometres of almost dead-flat racing. This will no doubt result in a very fast stage, with the sprinter's teams aiming to set things up for the finish in Loudun. This is the first time that this town has been visited in the Tour's history. Profile © Société du Tour de France
