Lunghi in first professional
win
Colpack professional, Denis Lunghi won the 29th edition of the GP
Industria, Commercio e Artigianato after a successful solo attack with
3 kilometres to go. He beat Alberto Ongarato (Mobilvetta) and elite
rider, Matteo Carrara (UC Bergamesca), after they formed a break with
20 kilometres to go in the race. Alessandro Baronti (Cantina Tollo),
Luca Paolini (Mapei), and Polish Seweryn Kohut (Amore e Vita) were the
other members of that break.
Lunghi, 24, has only been a professional since 1999 but has had no
wins until this one. He was quite successful as an amateur though, leading
Polti to sign him last year. This year, he made the shift to Polti's
"training ground" division II team, Colpack.
