Stage 3 - July 15: Zebrak ITT, 39.4 km

Sosenka takes lead in penultimate time trial

The winner of the first Ytong Bohemia tour, Ondrej Sosenka (PSK Unit Expert) today won the third stage of the Ytong Bohemia Tour 2000 and took the lead in the general classification. Sosenka, despite problems at the start, was the fastest rider in today's individual time trial over 39.4 km at Zebrák.

The PSK Unit Expert rider clocked 49:30 (47.75 km/h) to beat German Thomas Liese (Nürnberger) by 28 seconds. Third place went to Eugen Wacker from Mroz. Milan Kadlec (Mobilvetta Design) in the yellow jersey finished fourth.

The fifth rider on the start list was German track pursuit World Champion, Jens Lehmann, and he posted the best early time of 51:00. The next rider to beat him was René Andrle (Wustenrot-ZVVZ) with a 50:39. Shortly after him came E. Wacker, eleventh in the World Championship ITT last year. Wacker beat Andrle by 17 sec.

Then, Thomas "The Tank" Liese confirmed his good time trialing ability. He was the first rider under 50 min, and moved up to 3rd on the GC. Triple Czech National Time Trial Champion Frantisek Trkal (Bosch) came in 8th place.

Ondrej Sosenka, the current Czech National ITT Champion started only after a 37 second delay. However, at the turn at halfway, he was already first with 30 seconds lead.

"After first stage it was clear to me. I know I am better time trialist then Milan (Kadlec). So I came a little bit late to start to make it more dramatic," said Sosenka with smile.

"In the first stage Ondrej (Sosenka) was in better shape. Moreover his team (PSK Unit Expert) is considerably better," said Kadlec.

Stage 4 - July 16: Beroun - Beroun, 126.5 km

Sosenka takes his second Ytong Bohemia Tour

Ondrej Sosenka from team PSK Unit Expert won his second Ytong Bohemia tour today, after previously taking it out in 1998. Second in the General Classification was his best friend Milan Kadlec from Mobilvetta Design at 1:01 and in third place was the winner of the last stage, Slovenian Valter Bonca (Bosch).

Ondrej Sosenka and Milan Kadlec both started their careers in Dukla Prague and later Tico Praha. The last three years they spent together in Italy (Mobili-Lissone-Mapei, Bergamo For 3, Brunero Bongioanni Mapei).

The last stage (Konepruska stage) was 126.5 km long, and was full of attacks. After short ride from Beroun, the remaining 72 riders went into six 18 km laps with several climbs to overcome. On lap two, there was an attack by Latvia's Dainis Ozols (Mroz), and he was joined on the next lap by 1999 overall winner Jaroslav Bilek (Wustenrot-ZVVZ) and three other riders who were further down on GC. However, they soon came back into peloton.

On the fourth lap Ozols retired and Bilek rode together with Klaus Mutschler (Coast). Then Valter Bonca attacked from the peloton, passing the two in front and riding successfully to the finish. The win moved Bonca up from sixth to third place overall.

Sosenka in the yellow jersey controlled the race. Moreover he got several points on the climbs and moved up on the second place in the KOM competition behind Steven Kleynen (Bel) from Farm Frites. Second place went to prologue winner Jaromir Friede (CS MTB Team), who escaped in the last kilometre in the streets of Beroun.

The main group was led to the finish by Lubomir Tesar (PSK Unit Expert). "I am happy - I helped Sosenka to keep the yellow jersey and finished third as well," said Tesar.
