Vuelta a Táchira

Stage 1, January 15 - Barinas Circuit race, 118 km 

Mexican Eduardo Graciano yesterday won the first stage of the Vuelta a Táchira, the most important cycling race of Venezuela.

Graciano, who now wears the yellow jersey, escaped from a group of nine riders just meters from the end. Martín Garrido, of the Spanish Fuenlabrada squad, finished second in the circuit race of 118 kilometers in the city of Barinas, about 550 kilometers to the West of Caracas.

The second stage will be run between Barinas and Bolivia city, a distance of 156 kilometers.
