Another smaller than usual field due to the next days Melbourne to Sorrento Cup and Women's Mornington Cup. A 30 degree day and strong winds would ensure tough racing on the night though, even if the start lists were a little depleted.

C and D Grades were content to cover any attacks immediately, and apart from riders who found the pace or temperatures too hot, were all present for the usual bunch finishes. Riders found it hard to judge the head wind sprint, Josh Rogers a convincing winner in D Grade from Phil De Salvo, Andy Beasley and Rachel Rademacher who has shown no lasting effects from her falls at the Christmas Track Carnivals.

Tony McGarragul won C Grade from Matt Coulston, tandem pilot Russell Wolfe (riding solo today) and G Harvey.

A very early attack in B Grade was never challenged, with 1st and 2nd lapping the remnants of the bunch at the finish. Ashley Gowie and Ryan Kelly attacked their 4 break away companions late in the race, with Ash too strong in the headwind and winning easily. Paralympian Paul Lake took 3rd ahead of noted sprinter David O'Leary. Kathy Watt, one of only 7 other riders in the chasing bunch, and warming up the Mornington Cup the next morning earned the displeasure of her companions by constantly attacking the group, preventing them from maintaining a good rhythm.

The 14 man A Grade field started very slowly, all riders wanting to keep each other in plain view before a series of attacks split the race apart. A late attack by Bay Series junior Michael Gill was reeled in with a few laps to go, but the counter attack of Ben Lindsay and Karl Becker was successful, Ben going on to win a tight sprint. Doug Garley won the bunch sprint for 3rd over Michael Gill.
