Perez almost loses it

In spite of a dramatic fall 50 km from the finish, the Cuban Pedro Pablo Perez still managed to win the 25th Vuelta a Cuba, from Venezuelan Omar Pumar after the finish in Havana. Perez, who led throughout the race over more than 2,000 km, fell during the last stage, but remounted using another bike to complete the race.

The stage was won by Czech Petr Herman, from Cuban Joel Mariño in a 70- man bunch sprint in 5:18.52. Mexican Carlos Manuel Hernandez won the points classification, while Carlos Maya took the mountains jersey. In the teams, Cuba A beat the Venuzuelan lottery team, followed by Cuba B.
