Stage 2 - February 10: Mauguio - Cavaillon, 106 km

Hunt wins in the Med

The first of two of today's stages in the Tour of the Mediterranean was yet another bunch sprint, as the cyclists completed the 106 km from Mauguio to Cavaillon in just over 2 and a half hours. New Big Mat signing, Jeremy Hunt showed that his "ghost like" image was no hinderance to his speed, as he beat the number one man, Mario Cipollini (Saeco-Valli&Valli) by a hair to win the second stage. In third place was Mexican, Miguel Meza Flores (Colpack) who edged out the race leader, Jaan Kirsipuu (Est, Ag2R).

Kirsipuu hung on to the overall, but faced a tough challenge in the afternoon with the 35 km team time trial.
