Welcome to the Marion Clignet Diary for 2000. Marion is one of the world's top track riders, and is also a handy roadie when it comes down to it. A multiple World Champion in the team time trial, the individual pursuit and the points race are just some of her acheivements over a long career. On the road, she rides in the powerful Acca Due O-Lorena Camice team alongside Diana Ziliute, the Polikeviciute twins, Zoulfia Zabirova and Vera Hohlfeld. A formidable outfit in women's cycling if ever there was one.

Hers is also a story of winning against the odds - after a successful start to her career in the early 90's, she was diagnosed with arthritis and was forced to undergo a long and frustrating treatment. Along with this was her susceptibility to epileptic seizures, made worse by the arthritis treatment. To come back from that to win two Gold medals at last year's World Track Championships in Berlin was an awesome achievement, and you can read more about it in her profile.

She has her sights set on the Sydney Olympics this year, and will certainly be the favourite for the 3,000 metre pursuit come September.
