Stage 7 - December 31: Taipa Criterium, Jockey Club Square, 66 km

South Africa finishes on top

The HSBC sponsored South African team finished the last road race of the year, the Tour of the South China Sea, with a winning performance after battling with the Hong Kong Cycling Association for much of the race. Overall winner was Neil MacDonald while third place went to dual stage winner Malcolm Lange. In between the two was Hong Kong revelation, Ho Sui-lun, who had led for the early part of the race.

The final stage was a 40 lap, 66 kilometre criterium around Jockey Club Square in Taipa, Macau, which saw Lange take his second stage win in three days in the tour.

Afterwards, MacDonald said his win was an important morale booster prior to his professional debut in Europe this season. He returns home for a short period before returning to Asia for the Tour de Langkawi in February.

20 year old Ho Sui-lun was a little disappointed at not being able to carry on Kam Po Wong's winning streak in the tour, but he is still at the beginning of his cycling career and said that he has a lot to learn. He will ride in the Tour of Wellington in New Zealand that starts this Wednesday.
