Local leader after stage 8

The 36th Vuelta a Costa Rica has a new leader after stage 8, a 94 kilometre circuit race in the Costa Rican capital. Colombian Julio Bernal (Té Frío con Limón Dos Pinos) won the stage from Wendy Cruz (Adidas Pipasa INS Jaisa A) and José Adrián Bonilla (Pizza Hut A), but the lead was taken over by Costa Rican Luis Morera (Pizza Hut B).

However, things will likely change tomorrow in stage 9, 114 kilometres from Cartago to Pérez Zeledón, inlcuding the 3,000 metre climb of Cerro de la Muerte (Hill of Death).
