Stage 11 - December 28: Río Claro - Buenos Aires, 124.8 km

New leader on penultimate stage

Costa Rican Federico Ramírez has become the new leader in his national tour with one stage to go, after he surpassed his teammate Alvaro Lozano in today's stage from Rio Claro to Buenos Aires. Ramirez led another Cafe de Costa Rica whitewash, beating Lozano home by 40 seconds, with Israel Ochoa (Adidas-Globo) taking third and two other Cafe de Costa Rica riders in 4th and 5th.

There is effectively zero chance that anyone other than Ramirez or Lozano can win the tour, after the mountains of the previous few days have put some large time gaps in the GC. Third placed Mexican Miguel Arroyo is nearly seven and a half minutes down and it would take a miracle for him to close the gap on the two leaders.

Tomorrow's final stage is from Pérez Zeledón to San José, 137 kilometres long.
