Bénéteau does it for
Bonjour
Walter Bénéteau of the French Bonjour team won the 13th round of the
Coupe de France, the GP Telegram in Chateaulin. The 195 kilometre race
came down to a sprint between five riders, and Bénéteau beat Tour du
Limousin winner, Patrice Halgand (Jean Delatour) and Saulius Ruskys
(St Quentin) to the line. Halgand became the new leader of the Coupe
de France.
The race was animated by an attack from Laurent Brochard and Yoann
Le Boulanger, who were away until 20 kilometres to go. However, once
they were caught a new move went from Halgand, Ruskys, Bénéteau, Yakovlev
(Besson) and Bessy (Jean Delatour), and these five contested the finish.
In the end, Bénéteau was a surprise winner and it was his first pro
victory. Halgand now has a 31 point lead over Jaan Kirsipuu with two
round of the Coupe de France to go.
