Tour of South Gippsland - NELeongatha, Australia, August 9, 2000Tighello againRound four of the Tattersall's Cup in Victoria saw state road champion, and winner of two previous rounds, Robert Tighello (St Kilda) best the rest of the field in the 129 kilometre windy circuit. Once again, Tighello attacked near to the finish (6 km to go), leading home Caravello's Steve Williams who was solo for second. The two had broken away from the rest of the field with 30 kilometres to go. The bunch of 14 sprinting for third was headed by Tasmanian Gareth Atkins, with Tyson Lawrence (WA) and David PcPartland (NSW) rounding out the top five. With one race to go in the series, Tighello will be tough to beat but anything is possible and there are still five riders within striking distance of the flying Tighello on 79 points. The Tattersall's Cup series is an important selection race for the Sun Tour in October, with the top 10 riders automatically gaining selection. However, if any of those already have a team, then extra spots may be awarded to riders further down the standings. Tighello will ride for the Australia Post squad in the upcoming Sun Tour.
