Tour of Sunraysia - NEAustralia, August 25-27, 2000Main Page Results Previous stage Stage 6 - August 27: Mildura Kermesse, 30x2.1 km, 63 kmAnna Wilson's reportThe final kermesse proved to be a bit of a miserable affair with the temperature plummeting before the start and rain growing stronger during the stage. It was a 2.1km circuit with a few speed bumps in the course just to add a bit of interest. Everyone rode sensibly during the stage - I don't think anyone crashed and I never felt in danger. Tim Carswell went on the attack and was in a break with two other riders for a good 10 laps but eventually the field brought them back and we were destined for a bunch sprint. It was madness as usual in the final lap with the Kiwis trying to get a train going and the Clarke brothers going for the finish too. In the end, Ashley Hutchinson surprised everyone to take out the stage from Troy Clarke. I finished in the bunch yet again. So Greg Henderson was declared the overall winner with Tim Carswell second and Ashley Hutchinson third. The Kiwis certainly dominated things and everyone was wishing them well for the Sydney Olympics at the end - even though they live on the wrong side of the pond! It was a great weekend for me - hard training chasing the boys around all weekend. I am ready for a couple of easy days before hitting the ergo for some more intensity.
