It was a stage straight down the highway with a gentle tail wind so once again the pace was high and despite a lot of attacks, no one was able to sustain a high enough pace to stay away. There were 5 intermediate sprints which were hotly contested since so little time separated all riders. The New Zealand team rode at the front for almost the whole stage and in the finish, Greg Henderson proved too quick for everyone yet again, taking out his third straight stage. I found the stage relatively easy but was still stretched to my limits in the final kilometres as the pace picked up in the excitement of the finish. Ashley Hutchinson finished second and Troy Clarke third.
