PreviewThe four day, four stage Vuelta a Burgos is ranked quite highly on the UCI calendar (2.1), and it is seen as important preparation for La Vuelta a Espańa for many teams. Riders looking to hone their condition include Abraham Olano (ONCE), Alex Zülle (Banesto), Wladimir Belli (Fassa Bortolo), Pavel Tonkov and Manuel Beltran (Mapei), Stegano Garzelli (Mercatone), Angel Casero (Festina) and Laurent Dufaux (Saeco). The race starts with a 6 kilometre mountain time trial on Monday, followed by an undulating stage from Burgos to Clunia on Tuesday (181 km). The decider is on Wednesday, a mountain top finish in Lagunas de Neila (HC) after 164 kilometres, and the tour finishes Thursday with another 164 kilometre stage from Medina de Pomar to Burgos.
