Veenendaal Veenendaal - Cat. 1.2Netherlands, April 13, 20001999 results Results Start List Past Winners Rabobank happy at lastSteven de Jongh was frustrated on Sunday night. He punctured twice in Paris-Roubaix in the first 100 kilometers, and has had some bad luck until now this season. He fell in the Trofeo Luis Puig, and later in the Driedaagse van De Panne. But today in Veenendaal-Veenendaal, he rode all of the frustration out his his body. Rabobank manager, Theo de Rooy was glad with the second victory this season for Rabobank. De Jongh, Leon van Bon and Marcel Duijn had listened to him very well and were with the first group of 13 attackers. What happened behind this group? It had nothing to do with cycling. The bad weather was the reason the entire Telekom and Lampre teams stopped at the first feedzone. Only 31 of the 128 starters arrived at the finish in Veenendaal. Three Rabo's plus Knaven, Eeckhout and De Meester were together after a few of the climbs around Berg en Dal. But these 'hangers on' had no allusions against the three Rabobank riders. De Jongh attacked with 50 kilometers to go, and held on thanks to the excellent work of his team. Rabobank was also glad about the return of Erik Dekker. He started for the first time after his broken elbow in Paris-Nice and he rode for more than 70 kilometers today.
