61st Paris-Camembert, Cat 1.2France, April 25, 20001999 results Teams Past winners Rous solos in from ArmstrongLance Armstrong (USPS) produced his best result this season after finishing second in the French semi-classic Paris-Camembert Tuesday. The winner, Didier Rous (Bonjour) took his first victory since he won a stage in the 1997 Tour de France. He won by attacking eight kilometres from the finish after the remnants of an earlier attack 75 kilometres from the finish were caught. Igor Flores (Euskaltel), Patrice Halgand (Jean Delatour) and Yvon Ledanois (FDJ), had been caught by Rous, Armstrong, Ivanov (Farm Frites), Salmon (Ag2R), Extebarria and Zubeldia (both Euskaltel) at the Mur des Champeaux, the toughest passage of the race in the village of Camembert. Rous got around fifteen seconds before the others raised the speed but six were were left at the finish line. A victory well deserved by Rous. "You can't imagine how happy I am. I have been second here before (behind Baffi in 1996). This is something of a revenge", said the happy Frenchman after the race. He had a little more revenge as in 1996 he was second in Flèche Wallonne behind Lance Armstrong.
