Tour of Serbia, Cat 2.5 Yugoslavia, September 21-27

Main Page Stage 1a, Belgrad-Celarevo, 116 kms Report, Stages 1a and 1b, September 21 The Tour of Serbia started with a roaring tailwind, resulting in an average speed of more than 54 km per hour(!?) for the first stage, 116 kms from Belgrad to Celarevo. 18 riders broke away about halfway and got three and a half minutes over the peloton. Slovakian Jan Kruzic took the sprint. The afternoon stage, 93 kms from Celarovo to Apatin was wet, with slippery, narrow and winding roads and many falls. Kruzic managed to stay on his bike and held the leader's jersey over night. The Czech team PSK Unit took the three first places in the sprint.
