AVS:

Lithuanian Raimondas Rumsas proved once again to be the
best over the climbs - watch out Italy, for he is going to
Giancarlo Feretti's new team.

With 5kms to go (before the final ascent) Jens Voigt
looked even more sure to take yellow FIAT jersey than he
had at the start, despite being unable to resist the Mróz
cyclist's attack, and losing 2nd place overall to Cezary.

Fair Play

Summary

It's easy to notice the Mróz rider's supremacy. On the
fourth attempt they finally won TdPologne and in what a
style!?! Despite quite strong line-ups in the other 14
teams (including 8 from 1st division) Mróz managed to put
5 men in the top 10, win 3 stages, take all jerseys and
practically control the race througout. Brozyna took the
biggest success of his carrier, Zamana rode above the
expectations in this hard stage race, Rumsas very much
proved his great climbing skills (showed earlier in the
season on Selvino climb in Berga-masca), Wadecki won a
stage (though not in his hometown Elblag) and was high
in GC and the others also had their fair share in the
team's victory.

Foreign guests - We all remember strong riding on the flat
by Mondini; very fast sprinting by Strazzer and Kirsipuu
in stages 2 and 3; young talents from ONCE-Deutsche Bank;
active Ch.Moreau and Paolo Bossoni from Cantina, high on
GC for a long time Kasputis and of course the threat until
the very end of Jens Voigt.

Polish amateurs - weren't background to the one week fight
either, to name a few Artur Krasinski's beautiful stage
win after a long, long breakaway; Radoslaw Romanik once
again showed his climbing abilities, Piotr Chmielewski not
quite so, but had a superb ITT.

The 56th Tour de Pologne was a great race, with beautiful
weather, lots of drama to the end and a fantastic finale
for Polish fans. Until next year then, with an equally
interesting route and higher UCI category (we hope).
