In a bunch sprint, he beat Vini Caldirola's Roman Vainsteins (Lat) and race leader Paolo Bettini (Mapei-Quick Step), who increased his lead over Davide Rebellin by 1 second. UPDATE: After closely watching the photo finish of the third stage, the race judges for the Giro del Lucca have declared a tie between Jan Kirsipuu and Romans Vainstens.
