33 year-old Russian cyclist Dimitri "Dimi" Konychev (Mercatone UN) won the Grand Prix Fourmies on Sunday in northern France, ending a 6 -year run of Italian victories.

An 11-strong break occurred with 45 km of the race remaining, containing two-time winner of this race Max Sciandri (FdJ), Belgians Johan Museeuw, Dave Bruylandts, and Geert Verheyen, Italians Marco Fincato, Andrea Ferrigato, and Fabio Baldato, Michael Bladzaun and Niki Sörensen from Denmark, and Laurent Desbiens from France.

The group splintered towards the end, and Konychev had to contend with just four others, sprinting around Sciandri and Bruylandts for his fourth victory this year.
