Stage 2, October 15 - Geelong Criterium, 24 kmsJack & Jones comes goodCourtesy of Brian Farrell The second stage criterium of this year's Sun Tour was run in harsh conditions, with gale force winds blowing the field around the 800 m circuit. After 20 laps of the 30 lap race, a group of 7 riders escaped, headed by Danish Home Jack & Jones rider, Nicolai Bo Larsen. Later on in the race four others, including Dave McKenzie bridged the gap, but it was too late for them to recover in time for the sprint. Bo Larsen won the race from Kiwi Glen Mitchell and Belgian kermesse specialist, Bart Heirewegh, taking enough bonus points in the process to take over the overall lead. He is confident that his team can defend it for at least a few stages. This afternoon, the race goes from Geelong to Ocean Grove for a distance of 88 kms and will provide the first "road test" for the riders.
