Team Ericsson-Villigier quits

The Swiss squad Team Ericsson-Villigier has lost its sponsor and will quit. Manager Olivier Senn have hopes for a come back in 2001 and is already negotiating.

The riders? So far Christoph Göhring is gone to Nürnberger and Christian Heule to Post Swiss while Joseph Christen will retire.

Olympic champion to retire?

Swiss rider Pascal Richard, the current Olympic Road Race Champion, is said to be considering retirement, despite riding strongly at the end of this season and openly declaring he wants to defend his Gold Medal in Sydney next year.

He does not consider the offers that he has received for 2000 to be good enough. With only 308 UCI points he is not considered valuable enough for the teams that needs to buy points to get a first division seat for next year.
