Italian takes Japan Cup

Sergio Barbero, the 30 year-old Italian rider (Mercatone-Uno Bianchi team) won the Japan Cup road race in Utunomya city in Japan on Sunday, October 31. He finished ahead of the latest winner of the Giro di Lombardia, Mirko Celestino (Polti) and Sebastien Demarbaix (Lotto-Mobistar) in the final sprint.

The course was made up of 10 laps of a 14.1 km circuit, followed by one lap of a 10.3 km circuit.
