Six Days of Munich

Germany, November 4 - 9, 1999

Night 5 - November 8th

After the penultimate night of racing, Martinello and Kappes now have a thirteen point lead on Risi and Betschart in the six days of Munich. Third pair Bartko and McGrory are a lap behind, but when they pass 300, as the other two top pairs have done, there's a bonus lap and they are on again.

It seems like the leaders could expect lap gaining attacks from both opponents in the final day chases. The first chase of the fifth evening was a narrow fight between Martinello and Risi, with the latter winning this time. The later 30 minutes chase went, a bit surprisingly, to Madsen and Pollack, who are eighth in the overall due to Pollack's stomach problems at the beginning. But in a season with several races cancelled, it's important to make a good show for contracts to the later races.
