Jelajah Malaysia, Cat 2.5

Malaysia, November 3-10, 1999

Report:

27 year old Swiss amateur Peter Jörg, VC Steinmaur, won the Jelajah Malaysia. He grabbed the leaders jersey on stage four and finished half a minute ahead of Indonesian Suyinto in the final GC. It was a narrow victory in another way - the day after the race, Jörg had to stay in bed with a 39 degree fever.

Peter Jörg now rises from 995 to the mid 500's on the UCI rankings. Jörg rode in this race for Sportgruppe Kia-Villiger, a GS III team next year. In addition, Indonesia makes its debut on the UCI rankings.
