Report:

Australian Tracey Gaudry won the 5th round of the Women's World Cup around the circuit on Mont-Royal in Montréal. The Australian Road Champion and 4th in the Tour de l'Aude recently won the sprint from local rider Lyne Bessette and Anna Wilson. German Hanka Kupfernagel, who had a bad race here maintained her lead of the World Cup rankings.

The race was over 11 laps for 91.3 kms on a difficult parcours and the hot sun did not help. On lap 10, Gaudry and Bessette attacked and were never caught.

Bessette said: "She was much stronger than me today and when she attacked I did not have the legs to respond."

Tracey said: "Lynn was very good in the mountains during the Tour de l'Aude but today it was different."
