Report:
The top group in this race formed as they came back towards Hasselt and with around
30 kms to go. First there were 11 who went away - Keppens, Sijmens, Vereecke,
Scheirlinck, Cosemans, Vangoidsenhoven, Demeyere, Boerman, Schep, O'Bee and Vrancken
(the last rider puncturing on the final lap).Close by was Holmgren, Vannoppen, D'Haemers,
Pelgrims, Brandt, Leukemans and De Peuter. Then, with less than 10 kms to go, O'Bee and
Sijmens attacked. The chasers - Rondelez, Scherre, Van Roosbroeck, Vereecke, Brandt, Theunis,
De Peuter, Boerman, De Groot and Velghe started to force the pace. Saeco, Vlaanderen 2002
and Rabobank had two riders in the group. It seemed like they would be able to catch
the break. But they failed because no-one really committed. It looked like it was going
to be a mass sprint. But that failed to eventuate. O'Bee beat the local rider Nico Sijmens
in the sprint.
