Report:

Ernst Brescher from Switzerland writes that the A Travers de Lausanne (or Across through Lausanne) is a mountain race, beginning on the edge of the lake of Geneva and winding its way up through the City until the riders reach the highest point in the city. The race across Lausanne involved 2 separate time trials each of 6.85 kms with a difference in altitude of 265 metres. The race was an invitational race with 26 riders - 24 Professionals and the two Swiss Mountain Bike riders Thomas Frischknecht and Christoph Sauser.

The race has a great tradition and was regularly organized from 1940 to 1949, from 1967 to 1980, and from 1996 to now, but since 1998 is not in the UCI calendar. This year Laurent Dufaux won the first race by 4 seconds in front of Alex Zülle. Zülle then won the second race by 5 seconds from Dufaux to win the overall by 1 second.
