Spanish Cyclocross Championship, January 10:

Fernando Ferrari, from the Spanish cycling paper Meta 2Mil has sent this report and data from the Spanish titles. The Valencian cyclist Francisco Pla took his sixth Spanish Elite championship when he easily won on the circuit at Mosende in the Galician locality of Porrińo. The race began with a flashing attack from the local rider Oscar Pereiro, but after a short time it was Pla who took control of the situation and little by little he built an unassailable lead. The 2.5 kms circuit, was quite hard and firm due to the short periods of sun drying it out. There was alternating periods of rain and sun during the race.

A chasing group of 5 knew that they were not going to be able to restrain Pla and so the race became a battle for the other positions on the podium. At the end it was Oscar Pereiro and David Seco who succeeded. David Seco paid for his attempts to bring Pla back and despite being in second place for most of the race was beaten by Oscar Pereiro at the end.
