Veteran Belgium Etienne De Wilde (Spar-RDM) won the sprint to take the GP Zottegem (aka
Dr. Tistaert Prijs) from Gert Vanderaerden and Wilfried Peeters, 2 of his 5 companions
in a long breakaway. The major feature of the race was the return of Tom Steels, who
has not raced since the Tour de France as a result of an injury.
