Preview:

120 riders will start the Ronde van Nederlands and race 6 stages for a total distance of 890 kms. Last year's winner Rolf Sörensen has not been in great form lately but is aiming to repeat his success. The organisers have tried to assemble as good a field as possible given the declining attractiveness of the race in recent years. They have succeeded in getting 27 riders who are in the top 100 on the UCI rankings. The favourites are probably Belgian Tom Steels, Johan Museeuw, Peter Van Petegem or George Hincapie. German Jan Ullrich is also using the race as a stepping stone to the Vuelta. The French team Crédit Agricole will be strong with Australian Stuart O'Grady and French sprinter Frédéric Moncassin aiming for success. La Française des Jeux have made Jimmy Casper, who has been in great form recently, their top rider for the Ronde.
