Post Cup, Round 1Denmark, April 25, 1999 |
ReportLars Mikkelsen reports from Denmark that the season finally started there with the first major race being staged on April 25. The race at Svendborg, the first in the Post Cup series (5 races in all - 3 within a month or so and the final 2 in September), is the largest event - outside the UCI calendar - in Denmark. The 2nd race will be in Grenaa on May 9, and after that we're looking at GP BKI Kaffe, Aarhus - upgraded to 1.4 this year (13th), GP Midtbank, Herning (15th) and the new GP Odder 1.5 (16th). The race should have been marked by the participation of 14 Acceptcard Pro Cycling riders and almost as many from Home Jack and Jones. But AcceptCard - with the exception of Jacob Moe Rasmussen were totally asleep just at the moment when HJJ took a group of 10 riders away from the peloton - 7 of their own riders at the half way mark. Jacob Moe, one of the two Chicky World riders in the race and one non-pro veteran Carl Chr. Petersen went with them. Blaudzun and Bo Larsen took off in the closing kms and in the final sprint Michael Blaudzun had no trouble beating last year's 2nd from Henninger Turm, Nikolai Bo Larsen. Svendborg, 174 kms:1.
