A request from Lance

Dear www.cyclingnews.com users:

I received this from Lance over the weekend and if you like my pages then maybe you can help this young girl a bit. Read the story and see what you can do. I get half a million hits to my cycling news server a week now so maybe we can flood her home page too.

Thanks in advance

Message from Lance

Dear Bill

Before last year's Ride for the Roses in Austin I did an autograph signing at a local Thundercloud sub shop. No big deal. The first person in line, who had heard the ad on the radio, was a little girl with her mom. They had been there first and had waited the longest. I knew the minute I saw her she was special. Her hair was short and soft-looking...like mine was at the time. She too was a cancer patient. But she struck me as being very different and so I signed the autograph and she walked off. Again, no big deal. But after signing away for another hour or so I couldn't stop thinking about this little girl. Driving home she was on my mind, the rest of the day as well. I decided I had to find her because we were having a party at my house for some Ride for the Roses VIP's and I wanted to invite her. After calling the Children's Hospital in Austin I found her and she came to the party with her family and had a blast. So anyways, she eventually finished treatment (for neuroblastoma) and looked to be headed in the right direction.

Like most cancers one year disease free is considered to be a major milestone. She past the one year mark but soon relapsed and is now being treated again and will soon receive a bone marrow transplant.

The reason I am writing is because she now has a home page complete with guest book. She is so excited about her page and receiving guestbook entries she can't wait to read them. The problem is that her site isn't exactly well-travelled like the Yahoo home page. I posted an entry yesterday and I was only the second entry. I am asking all of you to do me a favor by leaving her a message on her guestbook, it doesn't have to be long. She will be thrilled. Tell her you heard about her, and how special she is, from a friend. Trust me she is special.

Thanks in advance.
