Stage 12 Brief:The race comes out of the Pyrenees and there are only 3 major obstacles today. At 92.5 kms comes the Cat 3 Col du Paradis (a 6 km climb at 4.4%), then at 103 kms the Cat 4 Côte de Mouthoumet (a 3.6 km climb at 4.7%), and finally at 117.5 kms comes the Col de Villerouge (a 1.5 km climb at 4.9%).The Tour is in uproar today. The riders staged a strike over the increased attention given to the drugs scandal. The riders initially refused to ride but then started under neutral conditions. Dutch radio said that the peloton initially rode very slowly indeed for 14 kms behind Leblanc's lead car. The neutral conditions were being maintained. After 16 kms of neutral riding and a delay of 2 hours, the Tour officially resumed at around 13.35 European time. Belgian Tom Steels took his second sprint victory in this year's Tour when he won the mass sprint into Le Cap d'Agde narrowly beating Francois Simon and Stephane Barthe. But it was a hollow end to the 222 kms stage from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean. The early breakway went at 5 kms into the delayed start (the stage being 16 kms shorter than scheduled). Laurent Jalabert, his brother Nicolas and TVM's Bart Voskamp attacked and stayed away for 130 kms before being caught at Narbonne. With 25 kms to go, Jacky Durand and Thierry Gouvenou attacked from the bunch but were caught just 300 kms from the line. Steels highlighted the stage win and told reporters to focus on that. As to the industrial action, the riders were meeting later tonight to decide what will happen over the coming weekend in the Tour.
