Brief:

29-year old Stéphane Cueff from the Mutuelle de Seine-et-Marne team won the 52nd edition of the Grand Prix d'Isbergues in front of Franck Hoj (Palmans-Ideal) and Belgian Jo Planckaert (Lotto-Mobistar). He said it was his best victory as a professional. He won from 5 breakaway companions who were nearly a minute in front of the main peloton.

The main highlight of the race was an audacious attack from two young riders Anthony Langella and Peter Wuyts (Bel) who were in front alone for 188 kms. Langella seems to be making a speciality of this sort of attack as he was also away for 178 kms on his own in the Grand Prix de Fourmies (before taking second place).

This time, the two riders were caught 20 kms from the finish and it was Jo Planckaert who took advantage of the regrouping of the race. He attacked and took the other 4 with him. He was still attacking this smaller group as they went under the red kite for the last km. But he was unable to drop Cueff nor Hoj. Cueff then counter-attacked and stole the race.

This race was part of the Coupe de France and Pascal Lino retains his lead with 126 points from Laurent Desbiens second on 120 points. The last two races in the series are la Polymultipliée de l'Hautil on September 27 and on October 1, Paris-Bourges.
