Brief:

Francisque Teyssier (Mutuelle de Seine-et-Marne) won the 62nd edition in front of French ITT Champion Gilles Maignan. The race was held under a warm sun with a strong wind coming up on the second lap of the circuit.

It was a great double for the Mutuelle de Seine-et-Marne team and Francisque Teyssier, who is now looking towards next year, said: "This success has truly surprised me. I have prepared for this race for the last 3 weeks. In the first kms, I was feeling good and it gave me a lot of confidence."

Pre-race favourite Bobby Jullich, 3rd in the Tour de France, never found his legs and finished in 17th place in this classic individual time trial, held for the last time at Lac de Madine in central France.

In the women's event, Jeannie Longo did not start. Russian Zoulfia Zabirova, the current Olympic ITT champion won the 36 kms (1 lap) race in 49.50. Kathy Watt, was second at 20 seconds.
