World Champion Mario De Clercq took the second Super Prestige Trophy
rac at Asper in Belgium. Early in the race he attacked with Richard
Groenendaal (Ned) and Sven Nijs (Bel) both riding for Rabobank. They
went clear. Then De Clercq attacked a second time and dropped his breakaway
partners. In the end, he was never caught and finished in front of two Belgians
Nijs and Bart Wellens. Nijs retained his position at the head of the the
overall Trophy rankings after his first place at Ruddervoorde on October 24.
It was a good weekend for De Clercq who also won on Saturday at
Zonnebeke.
