Brief

Latvian rider Romans Vainsteins, won the GP Industry and Handicraft which is also known as the GP Larciano. The neo-professional from Kross-Selle Italy has already shown form during Tirreno-Adriatico. The race was highlighted by a 126 kms flight by Tebaldi and Tafi (the latter still suffering from his fall during Paris-Roubaix)

Once Tebaldi and Tafi were caught there were a flurry of attacks from riders like De Pasquale, Forconi, Donati, Secchiari, and Profeti. But with 20 kms to go, a new group formed and driven by Daniel Clavero they worked to establish a new course record averaging at the end 42.06 kms/h. Nardello was prominent too.

With 2 kms to go Podenzana and Miceli were dropped and by the time they went under the last km banner their dream of staying away was over. It was here that Vainsteins asserted himself.

Gianni Savio, the Kross-Selle Italia sports director praised his pupil and also expressed hope that his team would be given a wild card entry into the Giro d'Italia. "We have deserved to be included in the field. We already have 16 victories. There are already 18 teams. If they also admit Mobilvetta-Northwave that will make 20 teams and a total of 180 riders which is clearly within the UCI rules which state that 200 riders is the maximum. If our request for admission is not agreed to, we will, unfortunately go and race in Denmark or Poland."

Second placegetter, Mario Manzoni said at the end: "They left it far to late and I had to ride hard at the end."

Third-placed Mazzanti: "Bugno was the strongest attacker and I replied. Then Vainsteins came from nowhere and none of us could answer. is released and they have not been able to answer ".
