Brief:Matteo Tosatto (Ballan), 24 years, won the 13th Giro del Medio Brenta after a solo breakaway with a gap of 1.08 to Emanuele Lupi (Amore e Vita), and amateur Nicholas Ramacciotti (MBM Rose) and Amilcare Tronca (Ballan). These four riders went away at the 90 kms mark on the hairpin curves that went to the Gpm di Marotte. The main peloton did not organise any pursuit and the quartet successfully escaped. With 10 kms left to ride, Tosatto attacked his 3 partners and they could not respond. He stayed away and scored his first victory as a has professional.Of the 161 starters, only 34 finished. Michele Bartoli (Asics-CGA) was one of them, having his first race since the Giro. Bartoli fell 200 meters from the finish but was unhurt and will start in the 16º Giro d'Oro open, which starts and finishes in Ponte Arche (Trento).
