Dutch sport must clear up the Drug Administration

In the Netherlands, there must be, with support from the authorities, an independent and central service established to control and test for drugs in sport. All the sport's organisations must take it in their stride to eliminate the use of banned doping substances.

This is the most important conclusion to emerge from meeting and discussions at the sports centre in Papendal. The Dutch Cycling Federation, the KNWU had taken the initiative to set up the meetings after the revelations of the Sander's affair. Present at the meetings were representatives of the UWS, NeCeDo, VSG and NOCNSF (all relevant bodies).

The President Hermans, the past Head Doctor of the Dutch Olympic Team, had earlier called upon the administraters of the sport's body, NOCNSF, at short notice to consider this matter. There must be an agreement among all the "sport's bodies" to eliminate drugs from sport. They must enlighten the sports, and also outside of the top level, because use of banned substances is a problem of society. There must also be more drug tests outside of competition. The authorities shall be asked for an extra sporting subsidy to implement these new measures.
