Corey Sweet ReportsWhat a day! Today's stage was 100km circuit race with a steep 1km climb which we covered 9 times. Everything started off well with a premie sprint after 9km where I lead out team mate Kris Denham (3rd sprint's jersey). He placed in the points. Then on the 2nd lap I placed in the KOM points (4th KOM jersey). Shortly after a break went clear of 3 including Kris. It went out to 1.20min after 10km, at this stage everything was going according to the team plan. With only 3 team mates left (we lost Nic Brown yesterday due to a crash) we planned on getting 1 up the road and hopefully then I would get across in another group.A group of 4 went up the road containing Daniel Trinne (the only GC hope) and a few kms later I jumped across alone and we were chasing the group with Kris. We got the gap straight away so I was yellow on the road when I heard the dreaded noise of my rear tyre going down. There was no service in between the groups so I had to wait for the bunch to pass to get a wheel. After chasing for 7km with team mate Ben Brooks we had caught the bunch at the summit of the climb when the un-thinkable happened, my rear deraileur went into my wheel and tore it off the frame. (I am really pissed off as my bike is only 1 week old). I thought then that my tour was over but a couple of minutes later I was given Gordon Macauley's bike, a 54cm frame, I ride a 60cm. I finished the stage 14.57min down after a 50km 2 man TT and now have a very sore back. Daniel Trinne won the stage in a 3 up sprint. So that is part of bike racing. Jay said he had some stories to tell in his articles but nothing beats that. Tomorrow we have a 3km mountain top finish on a 53km stage and then a Circuit race in the town centre.
