Brief

Frenchman Pascal Lino (Big-Mat Auber-93) won the 59e edition of semi-classic Paris-Camembert in a solo breakaway. The Breton won this 6th race in the Coupe de France by 41 seconds over his compatriot Arnaud Pretot (Gan), German Jens Voigt (GAN) and Italian Rodolfo Masi (Casino). The victory was the first by a French rider since 1994.

Nothing much happened during the first half of the race. It started in freezing conditions at Marne (50 kms west of Paris) with snow on the ground. At about the half way mark a small group of riders left the peloton of runners which then broke up when Lino and two riders from GAN (Voigt and Pretot) riding hard on the front left the group with 60 kms to go. Massi was with the also. With 15 kms to go, on the côte de Moulin-Neuf, Pascal Lino attacked and dropped his two breakaway companions. He finished as a solo winner, just about 5 years after his last success - a stage in the 1993 Tour de France.

Lino takes the lead in the Coupe de France with this victory.
